Everton lost out to Patriotas Boyacá on penalties in the early hours of this morning. The defeat means Everton depart the CONMEBOL Sudamericana at the first stage.
Boyacá could only manage a 1-0 victory after 90 minutes, with Larry Vásquez scoring on the half-hour mark.
Neither side could find the elusive winning goal, so the game was to be decided via a penalty shootout.
In the resulting shootout, the home side ran out 4-3 winners after five penalties each.
A disappointing result for the Ruleteros, but the team will take many lessons from the experience and look to return to the competition next year.
