The Ruleteros continued their unbeaten start to the Clausura tournament with a convincing two-nil win at Deportes Temuco on Friday evening. Two goals from Maxi Cerrato and Steven Almeida were enough to cap off a successful trip and see Everton jump into third place in the league.
Everton took the lead on 18 minutes when a great pass from Raul Becerra found Maxi Cerrato who charged into the box and fired past the home goalkeeper. Everton continued their dominance throughout the first-half, but went into the break a goal to the good.
Temuco were unable to get any real foothold into the second half, but did trouble Everton goalkeeper Eduardo Lobos on 54 minutes.
The Ruleteros were unable to add to their advantage until deep into injury time when a five-man passing move resulted in Steve Almeida running through and slotting past the keeper to secure all three points for his side.
The win ends Everton’s run of three consecutive draws and maintains their unbeaten start to the Clausura.
Next up is Univ. Concepción on Saturday 18th March at the Sausalito, kick-off 00.00 UK time. Univ. Concepción are in fine form themselves, one point behind Everton, so very much an important game for Pablo Sanchez’s side.
